2025 Wilderness Medicine Courses

We serve as an instructional provider of Wilderness Medicine courses in Northern Vermont, across a variety of levels to meet your needs. Enrollment is limited to 16 students.

Wilderness First Aid Certification - $225 per person - tuition only
The two-day Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certification course is the most popular type of course that covers a solid foundation in the basics of backcountry medical care. This is a great course for mountain bikers, hikers, climbers, backpackers, backcountry skiers, snowmobilers, and other outdoor enthusiasts who venture out for long day and weekend trips.

Advanced Wilderness First Aid - $425 per person - tuition only
This four-day course covers the same topics as the WFA course on the first two days but includes more advanced topics and skills provided during days 3 & 4. This course is a great alternative to 8-day Wilderness First Responder courses.

AVALANCHE COURSES 2026
For the 2026 winter season, John Kascenska will be returning for the 13th consecutive year to teach AIARE 1 three-day Avalanche Courses at International Mountain Climbing School (IMCS).  Course enrollments are limited to 6 students. All courses provide the use of avalanche equipment (beacon, probe, and shovel).

Avalanche Rescue Course. $200 per person

The one-day rescue course is a stand-alone course that is designed for new and experienced recreational backcountry travelers, as well as aspiring avalanche professionals. New participants will learn the basics of companion rescue, while more experienced participants will have an opportunity to improve their current skill set, as well as learn about advanced topics through realistic scenario practice.
~ Basic First Aid & CPR Certificate Courses ~

One-Day First Aid & CPR $125.00 per person
Start the outdoor season right with a first aid course. This 8-hour training is designed to provide participants with the basic skills to more safely assess and provide first aid treatment of common outdoor injuries until EMS arrives. This a perfect course for hikers, mountain bikers, road cyclists, and other day outdoor travelers who are recreating in places where ambulance response is readily available. Students earn a certificate of completion.

Two-day: Wilderness First Aid & CPR Course $225 per person
This is a more advanced first-aid level course that provides more in-depth instruction for recreationists who may find themselves further off the beaten track. Additional course topics are covered along with in-depth scenarios. Please contact us to
